Public housing application

MHA's site says select Public Housing waiting lists are open, but only at five named senior properties (Latham Terrace, Lyons Ridge, Fairway Manor, Cleaborn Senior, and Legends North). Each property has its own phone number to apply or ask about your application. The site does not show a general open waiting list for other public housing.

Published hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Closed Fridays for administrative work. The Housing Choice Voucher office is drop-off and appointment only during those same hours.

MHA's main office is at 700 Adams Avenue in Memphis. It is open Monday through Thursday and closed on Fridays.

Before and after you apply

MHA says it will never charge a fee to put your name on a waiting list, and paying money will not move you up faster.
If you already applied, keep your contact information current with MHA. If a notice comes back undeliverable, your name can be removed from the list.
When your name reaches the top of a list, MHA mails a written notice asking you to come in for screening.
Be ready to show proof of birth, Social Security numbers, and income and asset information for everyone in your household.
