Sources and transformations
Program records use the administering government agency and SAM.gov Assistance Listings as primary sources. Housing office records come from HUD's Public Housing Agency dataset. During the site build, we remove fixed-width spacing, format phone numbers, group records by state or territory, and calculate aggregate totals. We preserve HUD's participant code as the stable office identifier.
No consumer-review score is added. The designation field, when present, is HUD's PHAS designation for the agency's public housing operations—not a rating of customer service, vouchers, or waiting-list speed.
Important limitations
- Agency contact details can change between HUD updates. Confirm before traveling to an office.
- Voucher and public housing counts are reported program inventory, not currently available assistance.
- Missing, zero, and not-applicable fields can have different meanings in the source data; do not infer an open or closed program from a count alone.
- Program rules and amounts can change before our next verification. The administering agency is authoritative.
- Coordinates and Google directions links are navigation aids, not proof of an agency's service boundary.
