EBT, Medicaid, and SSI Discounts on Prime, Walmart+, and More

Yes. If you get SNAP, Medicaid, or SSI, some companies may give you a lower price. Amazon Prime Access costs $6.99 a month. Walmart+ Assist costs $6.47 a month. Over 1,600 museums charge $5 or less when you show a SNAP EBT card.

You must sign up for auto-renew. The next year costs whatever fee BJ's charges then. You can turn off auto-renew before it renews.
• Sam's Club: A lower price for new members who join online and get SNAP, SSI, TANF, some state Medicaid programs, and more. Its help page does not say how much. You cannot have had an active membership in the last six months. ID.me checks your status.

Costco is different. Its help page says every warehouse takes EBT cards. We found no Costco member discount for people on SNAP.

Are there discounts for people on SSI or SSDI?

Yes. Amazon's sign-up page lists both SSI and SSDI. Walmart, BJ's, and Sam's Club list SSI.

If you have a permanent disability, look at the free Access Pass. It lets you into national parks and other federal sites. It is for U.S. citizens and residents of any age. The disability must seriously limit a major part of daily life, like walking, seeing, or working. It does not have to be 100%.

Bring a photo ID and one proof of disability, such as:

• A letter from Social Security or the VA that says you get disability benefits
• A signed doctor's letter. It must say the disability is permanent, that it seriously limits daily life, and how.
• A letter from a state agency, such as vocational rehab

The pass store says an SSDI award letter works. A notice of a benefit increase does not.

The pass itself is free. If you order it online or by mail, you pay a $5 fee plus $7.50 for handling. You can also get it in person at over 1,000 federal sites. At many sites, it cuts some camping fees, too.

Check your bus or train fare, too. Transit systems that get federal money have a rule. On regular bus and train routes, they cannot charge more than half the rush-hour fare during less busy hours.
