DHC's office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Call first before visiting, since both the public housing and voucher waiting lists are closed right now.

Before and after you apply

Each DHC property has its own waiting list — you can apply to more than one, but only if that site's list is open and your household qualifies.
Include every household member on the application and be ready to provide birth certificates, Social Security cards, and valid photo ID for each person.
Only mark preferences (like Veteran, Elderly/Disabled, or displaced-by-disaster) that your household actually qualifies for — claiming one you don't qualify for can delay your file.
Report any change of address, phone number, or household members through the RentCafe portal right away; DHC says it can't be held responsible if it can't reach you.
DHC won't tell you your exact place in line — log into the portal and check "Application Status" instead of calling for a number.
