Before and after you apply
- Applications go on a computerized random-selection waiting list; HCD says it "may take a few months after the application period is over for the ranking/position list numbers to be announced."
- Keep your address current: "Please be sure your current address is on file. If your address has changed, complete and mail the Change of Address form or drop it off at the Applicant Leasing Center."
- If your household size changes, submit a "Request to add-remove household members form" — this can change your bedroom size but "your ranking will always remain the same."
- "Your ranking/position list number never changes," so keep a record of your confirmation number and ranking.
- If you're denied housing, HCD's site says you may "exercise your right to an informal review" by submitting an Informal Review Request form.
Documents HCD asks applicants to have ready
- Picture ID (such as a driver's license)
- Social Security cards for everyone on the application
- Medicare and/or Medicaid cards
- Proof of age and family/household documents (birth certificates, divorce/custody papers, citizenship or immigration papers)
- Proof of all income (Social Security, VA, pensions, employment, child support)
- Proof of assets (bank accounts, life insurance policies, etc.)
- Your doctor's name, address, and phone number
- Names, addresses, and phone numbers of two emergency contacts
- Your last three landlords' names, addresses, and phone numbers, plus copies of your last three utility bills

HUD-reported assistance
These figures are HUD reporting-data snapshots, not a count of openings. Equal inventory and occupied counts do not prove that no future opening is possible. Waiting-list status comes from HCD, not this dataset.
HUD public housing designation: Substandard Financial. Substandard Financial means the agency earned at least 60% overall but scored below HUD's minimum for the financial-condition indicator. HUD may require corrective action.
